Celebrities Crashing

What is it about all these stereotypes among black celebrities?

Many black celebrities that is half white were commonly considered as black instead of white.Celebs like Mariah Carey,Halle Berry,Alicia Keys and Eartha Kitt were all half whites yet they were still considered blacks. Why?

  1. I dont consider Mariah Carey Black i call her biracial. Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, Eartha Kit are called black because....lets be real.....they look black despite the fact that they are biracial and some of them call themselves black. Can people stop mentioning this ignorant one drop rule foolishness.
  2. because some of them refer to themselves as black, therefore so does everyone else.
  3. black and white are skin colors. This should be pretty easy, if they look black then err....they are. If they look white then err.....they are. I don't get what's so hard!!!
  4. They look black...and how am i supposed to know if your mums white... av seen manny kids who have indian grandparents come out looking mixed when their parents r black......vice versa....i judge by what i see http://static.whatsontv.co.uk/images/07924_123602_Strictly07AleshaDixon129917.jpg I never new this lady was mixed until a programe came on and her white mother was talking to her and i was like...she doesnt even look mixed. i thought she was just jamaican...and she doesnt look white....what am i supposed to call her if i dint know her full race...i call her by what she looks like....same as society.
  5. it all goes back in history when they said "If anyone has a drop of blood from a black person...you're considered black" it's funny cause Mariah Carey isn't black...she doesn't look like it!!
  6. Because people see and treat them as Black, and first foremost they consider their self Black. <shrugs> I don't consider this to be a stereotype. Also, Black people are more accepting to people who are biracial.
  7. OBAMA IS NOT BLACK! HE IS MUSLIM!!! (EVEN WORST) BLACK = GANGSTA' MUSLIM= TERRORIST
  8. I don't consider Mariah Carey black. she looks like a fake blonde mexican woman with spaniard heritage. awhile Halle Berry looks fully black for me, Alicia Keys looks like Arab woman like Kim K. Claudia Lynx and Heifa Wehbe............about Eartha Kitt looks fully black, she was pretty when she was young but lately she looks so much like Micheal Jackson.
  9. It goes by what they themselves refer themselves as. Most people will say all of them are black (yes they know they are mixed ) but if you are mostly in the "black" limelight that is what they will refer to you as. No one if going to call each person by each of their races all the time Mariah carey: white & black, Alicia Keys: Jamaican,Italian,& puerto rican, Halle berry: white & black, Eartha kitt: white & black people like to place one term & call it a day Only time people really go into detail about their races is if there is some kind of documentary going on
  10. Good question. They're only Black when people want them to. Its time to start doing away with the damn one drop rule. Half White and Half White people or other mixes with HALF should get their rightful label.
  11. With the exception of Mariah (who now claims black) they are black women in every aspect, except they have one white parent. Whom they love and represent without thinking about the fact, that other parent is a different color than themselves- neither does the parent care- they know what their children look like. edit: Marika, you have it backwards- their only 'white' when ppl suddenly, want them to be. Blacks always love our own, full, mixed and otherwise....(unless they don't want to identify with us- then that's fine to- keep movin', no loss if one has a screwed sense of identity)
  12. Not just celebrities... Why are *any* African-Americans considered black? Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Kobe Bryant, Jesse Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah etc look nothing like native Africans from Nigeria or Ghana... They are considered black because going back 50-200 years, anyone with any black blood was treated as black. Do you think if Alicia Keys and Halle Berry walked into a KKK meeting, they would be considered white?
  13. Because the "one drop rule" still exists. If you're 1/8 African and 7/8 Swedish, guess what- you're mixed. Half? Then you're just black. You've got to realize that this country only "truly" began to accept blacks in the '70s, and even then it was shaky. Really not that long ago if you think about it. We've still got work to do.
